Miyake - Portland, ME

Miyake is a different class of sushi restaurant. In fact, I wouldn't even call it a sushi restaurant. Japanese fine dining fits the bill much better. From it's meager interior decorating, to the scant amount of seating, this place screams great food. You see, I have this theory, if a restaurant doesn't pump a lot of money into it's decor to try to draw you in with it's ambience, then it has to have excellent food. Otherwise, it would be easily overlooked. I actually did almost walk right by Miyake. It's in a tiny little house with a small sign on what seems to be a residential road. There was a voice inside me however, as soon as I walked through the doors, that said I would enjoy this meal.

Crab Rangoon - Pom's Thai Restaurant - Portland, ME

Just a pretty picture I took of food from yesterday. I don't ever order crab rangoon, but I get it for Travis.

Maine Lobster

I had to give you a little piece of the Miyake post since I may take some time with it. Who knows I could put it out tomorrow as well.

Maine does in fact produce some amazing lobster. Miyake is practically 5 minutes walk to the docks where they unload the lobster and it shows in how amazing the flavor is preserved in their lobster. Something tells me this is a general trait of Portland.

The lobster are sweet and have a fresh bright flavor to them. You really should try lobster up in ME if you ever get a chance.

4 Pizzas From Otto Pizza - Portland, ME

When you role into a town that is in one of the far corners of the US, you are bound to get a lot of recommendations about local attractions and food attractions in particular. We were fortunate enough to be steered to Otto Pizza in Portland, ME. The pizza's are fresh and the staff is super cool. I loved the smallness of their shop and the smiles on their faces. I let the cashier lady put my order in for me and had her give me 4 of their most popular pizzas.

Pom's Thai Restaurant - Portland, ME

Found a great noodle soup in Portland.

You can actually customize your own noodles, but this was the one the nice lady at Pom's made for me.

Medium rice noodles, ground chicken, tom yum broth, with peanuts, extra extra extra extra spicy.

The flavor is sweet and salty then the heat sets in almost immediately and lingers until you take your next bit. Perfect noodles!
