Local Eats: Vimala's Curry Blossom - Chapel Hill, NC

Avi loves Mango Lassi I wish I could remember my first experience with Indian cuisine. I can't even recall how old I was or where I was, and this saddens me. So many people find the flavors to be overwhelming or offensive, maybe because the balance of spices was off, or because there is just too much ghee (Indian clarified butter). Whatever the case, I'm pretty sure I fell in love with it instantly, because I could eat it daily if my health wouldn't suffer. At least that's what I thought. Usually the heavy flavors and cooking techniques of most indian restaurants I'd been to would leave me feeling lethargic or heavy. This was all about to change with one meal from Vimala's Curryblossom.

Local Eats: The Pig - Chapel Hill, NC

I used to think that my spirit animal was butter. I'm starting to think I'm a pig.

Spanky's has been a Chapel Hill institution since the '70s, always reinventing ways of keeping up with the ever so fickle Franklin Street economy. If there is one thing you should know about Franklin Street's turnover it's that the scenery is always changing. Restaurants find it extremely difficult to stay atop of high rent prices that plague the street while attempting appealing to college students' meager budgets.

Local Eats: Lantern - Chapel Hill, NC

One of my sponsors happens to be my brother-in-law, Larry J Moray. Larry and Jin Yi (my sister) decided to take me and my other sister Si Nae out to a nice dinner at the Lantern. The Lantern has quickly become the "go to" spot for delicious local food in Chapel Hill. They feature some exciting appetizers and amazing entrees and in my honest opinion, the best deserts in town. This was our meal in all it's glory. Foodies beware, there are dishes here that will make you drool on the keyboard.
