Local Eats: Linda's Cheese Fries

Linda's is the quintessential dive bar of Chapel Hill. They carry a full menu of bar foods but nothing even comes close to their cheese fries. I've probably eaten this plate of fried potatoes covered in cheese, scallions, and bacon, more than any other bar food in Chapel Hill. Oh yeah did I happen to mention they come with the most amazing ranch/caesar dipping sauce.

By far the best accompaniment to a pitcher of beer! --Joe Kwon

Oh cheese fries from Linda's, brings me back. The only other food I enjoy more on Franklin St. is a veggie burrito deluxe from Cosmic. Can't beat it.

Ah, memories. I always ordered those when we rode our bikes to Linda's for beers (no guilt...just burn off all those calories on the drunken ride back home!)
But, my new favorite pairing for any beer...the pretzels at Milltown in Carrboro. :)

Doesn't good ranch dressing just make everything better? I spent many a night at Linda's back when I was at UNC.

I am now craving a plate of those - and, yes, Ranch dressing does make everything better. But those look like they don't need anything to make them better. Great shot, too!

Oh how I love Linda's cheese fries! Between these and Cosmic burritos, Chapel Hill nights on the town always end with a very happy tummy!!

AAAAAAAMEN!

I probably have two good arteries due to Linda's cheese fries.

I ate many a plate of Linda's cheese fries while at UNC and try very hard to grab an order whenever I'm back in the Hill. Although, how many of us woke up the next morning and realizing you have burned the top of your mouth to smithereens because you ate them so fast and they never, EVER are served even lukewarm (which I love). Another Franklin St. delicacy - Hector's? Although it's closed now, right?? Those cheeseburgers on a pita with everything were probably about the best thing I've ever had after a couple (dozen) beers at Bub's. Ah, I miss the metabolism of my 20s.

These look so good that I am making the 30 minute drive tonight to get me some!
