Booche's - Columbia, MO
Sunday, March 7, 2010 at 4:11PM
You must know one very important thing about Booche's. Do NOT order french fries. You might get kicked out it's such a serious offense. However, DO order more than one burger because you won't be full off of just one. Each burger is about a 1/4 lb patty and I recommend getting it with "the works." They may not be big but they are very tasty. I think a lot of the flavor has to come from the tiny grill top they use to serve this large pool hall/bar.
As far as ambience goes, let's just say I wouldn't bring my family here. It's a bar filled with old men drinking at 11 in the morning. But if you're fine with that, and giving your kids unhealthy foods, then go for it. Why not get them started early on bad eating habits, right! I did!

Booche's is truly the best. It's often the only reason my husband and I return to Columbia. Sure we might use the excuse of seeing a Mizzou game, but we never leave town without eating there first. And we have taken our 4 boys to eat there at lunchtime... you're truly not a good parent unless you subject your kids to questionable establishments, right? (they loved that there were no plates!) Best seat in the house is the round table in front window!
Joe,
went to MU, really dig Booches. There is a really good cheap Mexican food place on Broadway that I love too. It's called El Rancho. Great late at night. Really enjoy your blog, tried the Fried chicken recipe and it was was great, and the Avett Brothers are among my favorite bands,
hope you are well.

I cannot believe you didn't eat at Oklahoma Joe's while in Kansas City!!! Granted you only had a few hours between your 2 concerts here, but still...how can you resist BBQ that shares it space with a gas station?! Behold, #13 on Anthony Bourdain's list of Places to Eat Before You Die!

I'll take you and the whole Avett Brothers crew next time you're in town ;)
