Avett New Year's Eating Guide - Atlanta, GA

Here are some great places to stop off while you're in Atlanta getting geared up for the show at Fox Theater. Now, realize that ATL is very large so some of these places might not be easily assessable. Regardless I'm positive you'll love these spots if you do go out of your way to try them.

See you in Dallas!

R Thomas

The first time I came here was with the rest of the guys and my good friends Josh and Libby. They specialize in vegetarian food here and everything I've had was spectacular. Hope you like it too!

Pho Dai Loi 2

You guessed it. This is a Phö restaurant. If you've never had phö then now's the time to try some. Phö is a Vietnamese rice noodle soup dish that's one of the best comfort foods of all time.

Shoya Japanese Restaurant

I love Izakaya's. What's there not to love about a japanese bar food?

Hey Joe- Atlanta is my hometown, and you have picked some great spots.

I would also recommend the food in the Westside Urban Market area of Atlanta. Figo, Star Provisions, JCT Kitchen, Taqueria del Sol, and more!

All of these are locally owned and delicious.

Love you guys..saw the Avett Brothers at ACL fest and at your ACL taping. Can't wait to see how the broadcast shapes up. Come back to Austin anytime!

Happy New Year!

R Thomas is kind of fleeting, it's not what it used to be...

Make the short drive (10 mins) to Decatur and check out Leon's Full Service. It's the best food/beer combo in Atlanta, and possibly the southeast/country. Then make the short walk around the corner to the number two beer bar in the world (Beer Advocate Magazine), Brick Store Pub. Both places share the same owners and they're leading the charge in the "craft beer paired w/good food" scene in America.

Can't wait for the show tomorrow!

Pretty much anywhere on Buford Hwy is guarenteed to be delicious! And authentic! My favorite is BBQ Corner 2, odd name, best Chinese food.

Oh! Or Yum Yum Thai on Lawrencville Hwy!

I can't believe R. Thomas is still there. I grew up in Atlanta and graduated from high school in 1987. It was there then, and my high school boyfriend worked there. I wonder if they still make those awesome potatoes. YUM!

I tried R Thomas and was kinda disappointed. Not a lot of flavor, but if you are looking for vegetarian, organic stuff then maybe it is the place for you. I went to the Silver Skillet for breakfast and really enjoyed it.

Gotta hit up Ria's Bluebird close to Grant Park, GREAT diner... try my fave: short stack of pancakes (served w/ hot maple syrup), soysage, and a soy latte... OR the huevos with skillet potatoes
