Germantown Cafe - Nashville, TN
Friday, January 29, 2010 at 7:00AM
I was more than excited to be in Nashville on Halloween night. And to top it off were were playing the Ryman. And to top that we were in the Johnny Cash room at the Ryman. How on Earth did I get here? I ask myself that all the time.
Anyways, Nashville is famous for a lot of things. I was on a quest for something a little different. Instead of going the regional route I decided on checking out this spot in the Germantown district of Nashville. I'm glad I did. The food was all well prepared and fresh. I only wish I could have gone for dinner.
I'm a sucker for a good BLT. Actually I don't think there is a better summer sandwich than the BLT. And it's probably one of the hardest to make successfully. There are a lot of factors that go into a BLT. The obvious ingredients, B, L, and T. But, one must not forget the mayo and the bread. So you see I have some high expectations. Since we were nearing the end of tomato season I just had to get one more BLT. The bread may have been a poor choice but the addition of fried green tomatoes was great. Would I get it again? Probably not because there were other things on the menu I wanted to try.
Shrimp and grits. I know you're saying "In Tennessee? . . . In GERMANtown?" I like my shrimp and grits without as much "sauce" but that's a personal preference.
The mushroom frittata. What a great brunch item!
This is the best looking french onion soup I've seen in a while.

Just a couple more shots from the night from Jacob Melton.

This post makes me miss living in Nashville. :)
I will definitely check this place out. Was at the Ryman last night and wish i could see every band I love there. Thanks for lookin out for Nashville!
Woah dude. I know that this is usually all about the food... but can I just give a late comment on how awesome those costumes are?
The Three Amigos is one of my all time favorite movies.
El Guapo?
Uhmayzing.
Was there that GREAT Halloween night! Had such a grand time, and the show was amazing. Very hard to beat the sound of you guys at the Ryman. Heading back to Nash in a few weeks and will most definitely try to check this place out. Looking forward to the shrimp and grits, and the next nearby show!!!
I was also there that night. One of the funnest shows I've seen you guys put on. This is a fantastic blog, by the way. It's always fun to see peoples' "other" likes and hobbies.
I was there for that show! It was my 6th Avett Bros concert and it was one of my favorites. I loved the costumes and the energy of the show. You all are so great! P.S. I live in Nashville but I've never been to the Germantown area so I definitely need to check it out.
